Through the above meetings both in Korea and Japan, the historical 1st Sport Fishing World Champion Cup between October 16th and 19th 2001, became a reality and as a result the World Sport Fishing Federation came to be established.
¨ë We contacted over 138 foreign embassies stationed in Japan, requesting for a support to find the appropriate fishing organizations in those countries thorough which the players and officials could be selected to take part in the Fishing World Champion Cup.
¨ė On October 18th 2001, while all the officials gather together, the establishment of WSFF was unanimously agreed upon, the Articles of Incorporation was passed, and the members of board were elected. At this time, representing 35 nations from 5 oceans and 6 continents, among which 8 countries had difficulties of finally sending the representatives due to the international political situations, I announce before you the inauguration of the World Sport Fishing Federation. It is our ardent desire that the Federation serve as the United Nations in the world of sport fishing.
Thank you very much.
