During the
1st Sport Fishing World Champion Cup which was held at Hirado city of Nagasaki prefecture between the 16th and the 19th of October 2001, the officials and the representative players from 35 countries of 6 continents agreed upon the intent of the World Sport Fishing Federation, The international organization that can be regarded as the UN in the fishing world, and by which the continuation of Fishing World Cup be ensured.
Through a preparatory meeting, the Articles of Incorporation was passed and the board members were elected.
Over 500 representative players and the officials attended in the inaugural convention to establish the World Sport Fishing Federation.
 The 21st century is called the Pan Pacific Era.
In order to support The rising world populations that will be a possible cause of serious food problems, the exploration and preservation of the oceanic resources are inevitable.
To overcome this food problems, the oceans, rivers and lakes that lie at the boarders between the nations should never be the reason of conflict over the resources for the benefit of individuals.
In stead, the international cooperation is mandatory.
In order for the world anglers to gather together to enhance the fishing skills, and to promote, through the fishing, the cultural exchanges among the people of the world, WSFF organizes the Sport Fishing World Champion Cup in its wide range of hope such as to foster the sound humanities, to resolve the resources problem, and to advance the peace in our global village.
